What type of music do you listen to when you're happy? How about when you are sad, playful, or frustrated? How does your emotions affect your current musical preference?

How about color? We all know the phrase "I am feeling blue ...", but does your mood affect your perception of music, and color? Is such effect unique or uniform? Is my 'blue-ness' in music similar to yours?

This project connects researchers from the fields of music information retrieval (MIR), human-computer interaction (HCI), psychology and cognitive science. Our aim is to investigate emotional and visual aspects of music cognition, and the effects that mood and emotions have on individual's preferences in music. Our practical goal is the construction of intelligent and intuitive music recommender system that services user's emotional, visual and musical preferences. We invite as many people as possible to help us and participate in our research (participate here).
